14th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Mobile
Eternal Sunset at Mammoth Lakes.
During a family vacation in California, my brother-in-law took us to a natural hot spring on public land which is maintained largely by those who use the spring. The epic sky was telling its own deep, unique story amid a seemingly endless sunset. This entire area is all formed by a super volcano, and knowing that made us feel wonderfully small and in awe.
