21st Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
Holy Elephant Gate in the Rain

A huge naturally formed stone elephant stands on the vast shore of Namtso. The elephant's trunk goes right into the lake, as if it is absorbing the sacred water from the snowy area. This is where the beauty of Tibet ends. Never has there been such a shocking scene. The blue holy lake is like the sea. On the snow-covered plateau, a natural inlet appears in front of you, connecting with the blue lake water. It constitutes the stuning painting between heaven and earth. Now it is said that the scenic spot has been closed. I don’t know why.
