I think that the picture "Children playing in a schoolyard Just Before Sunset" has almost perfect composition with a perfect combination of backlighting and color. It is an outstanding photo.

The use of light is amazing. I love how the children are still visable, but a surreal feeling with the sun behind them!

While most of the Photos you / your committee have selected are nicely composed and have an impact WHY ARE THEY SO VERY DISMAL IN IMPACT ? I find it hard to believe that no one sent in any HAPPY shots , or at least natural vistas or wild life . Everything you have selected is fighting thru adversity , which is noble , but there are other topics as well which are markedly missing . How about a beautiful photograph of something lovely ?

Children playing in a schoolyard is beautifully composed. You can imagine the children shouting and the boy at the right running to also climb the pole. For me this is the winner.

A wonderful sense of balance between light and shadow, between color and darkness, between the stillness and motion of the chldren. Even the angle of perspective, which captures and contains a moment of vibrancy and energy. Just beautiful!

What a beautiful picture, the light, the children, the impact of joy as the movement of the children is captured --the personal yet non personal view of the children, allow us all to identify -- unity, in the sky, earth, people, and even what is designed to challenge a pole rising up -- just the thing to grab the desire to climb -- I am remembering the child I am!!! Excellent picture!

I like the perspective with a slight tilt of the camera. The fact that they are playing right before they are called to go home for dinner or something... You placed your subject very well between the two rays of light in the background. Good composition and well balanced. This picture tells a good story! A story that all of us can relate to. Excellent!

It's funny. If it hadn't said that this shot was taken in the Philippines, it could have been just a bunch of the neighborhood kids playing at the park. Which of course it is, just on the other side of the world.
