After I had settled into Greece, I decided to go window shopping in order to explore the culture. I went to Μοναστηράκι because I had been told that many Athenians buy their clothes there. The shops were bustling with people as they hurried to take advantage of the winter sales. The air was filled with the smell of bakeries and roasting chest nuts from street vendors. As I walked across an intersection to continue shopping, I glanced up to see the stunning Parthenon. The afternoon lighting was just right so that the whole thing seemed to glow. Moments like this remind me that even though it has the same stores, Greece is a very different place from my home.
