3 A.M. in the Arctic

This photo shows two of my friends paddling next to my canoe in the early morning of the polar day. This photo was taken in Nunavut, Canada, inside of the Arctic Circle. We did not know the real time of the day but it seemed to be around 3 A.M. This photo was taken around day 20-30 on a 50 day Backcountry trip into the Canadian Arctic Wilderness where we spent 50 days on the Elk and Thelon Rivers through the Northwest Territory. This was a strictly canoeing trip where we paddled down this river and we had to make up some time, and therefore we were paddling at 3 A.M.
