13th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Mobile
611 and 1218
This was a photo taken during the first full day the Norfolk and Western 611 had returned to Roanoke. Locomotive 1218 is another locomotives stored at the Museum where the shot was taken. Both were built in Roanoke. The Steam locomotives are both landmarks and my community is proud of these testaments of a different time.
