A typical dinner at a Filipino house includes the oldest in the family at the center of the table. It's normal for a Filipino household to have different generations living at one house---the oldest automatically assuming command. She does rely for help and assistance from her companions because of old age, but the same weakness is also her biggest strength. Because she is the oldest, most experienced, and wisest, she gets the highest respect from everyone. It only takes one stare to command her presence.
