14th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
A 5th-grade second language girl poses a fraction multiplication problem with grass.
I teach 5th-grade and we run laps. I just gave a math lesson and sat on a bench huffing and puffing after running. One of my Latina girls was baffled by multiplication of fractions and wanted clarification. She made the problem with blades of grass. Almost made me cry.
