A Bamboo Pit Viper Ready to Strike
In this photo you see a Bamboo Pit Viper (Trimeresurus stejnegeri stejnegeri) in striking pose. This was from a night hike over the summer in Taipei, Taiwan. I was walking in a city eco park, searching for snakes, when I came across this vibrant green Bamboo Pit Viper. Because of my presence it curled up, in case it needed to strike in self defense. I took the photo and let it be on its way!
