I visited the Sax-Zim bog near Duluth, Minnesota on a heavily snowy day. I came upon this barred owl perched on a tree. I quickly setup my tripod and camera at a safe distance with my telephoto lens, and began photographing the bird that was looking directly towards me, unbothered by my presence. I noticed how still the bird was and wanted to use that to my advantage and created a long exposure that showcased the heavy snowfall and the still bird. After a few minutes, this bird flew away and I was grateful for this memorable encounter.
