A bedraggled lorikeet

Following a spell of heavy rain this wet lorikeet (Rainbow Lorikeet, Trichoglossus haematodus) flew on to my back verandah and perched on a hanging wire-basket. It's an immature animal (still with dark pigmentation on the bill), and since this was the first decent rain for several months, this was probably its first encounter with rain. It looks rather stunned by the experience! It cleaned up its plumage and flew away unharmed.
