A Bicycle on a Canal in Bruges

Bruges, Belgium is a pedestrian's and bicyclists city. The sign, in Dutch, reads "Uitgezonderd", which translates as "except" or "save". he parking area on the bridge is reserved for bicycles and mopeds. The combination of traditional Flemish brick facades, bridges and canals in conjunction with the parked bicycle transmits a powerful message of traditionalism, environmental sensitivity and eco-friendliness. Bicycling, as opposed to flying, driving, or cruising, is a form of sustainable travel to which Europe generally, and the Benelux countries in particular, lend themselves.
