20th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
A bison enjoying his wallow.
A wallowing bison at the White Horse Hill National Game Preserve in North Dakota. While driving the wildlife drive, we observed a bison approach his wallow and then completed a photo shoot of the entire scene, beginning to end. This one was #13 out of a total of 21 photos.
