A bison in the forest of Poland
The bison is a special animal in Poland. Bison were hunted to extinction in the wild in the early 20th century, the last wild bison being shot in the Białowieża Forest in 1921. Thankfully, they have since been successfully reintroduced from captivity. This animal represents a history not to be repeated.
