While driving on the Trans-Canada highway just outside Lake Louise, Alberta, in early June, 2017, we came across a mother and two black bear cubs having a breakfast of dandelions on a rainy and cool late spring day. All three bears seemed completely unconcerned by the fact that a car full of humans were within 10 feet of their morning smorgasbord. We were able to take several close-up photos before a loud semi-trailer scared the trio back into the forest.
