A buckeye butterfly on kalanchoe flowers
We have a wildlife friendly suburban garden and have incorporated many plants that attract butterflies. This is a photo of a buckeye butterfly (Junonia coenia) on Kalanchoe flowers by our San Francisco Bay area patio. The eyespots on its wings are believed to confuse and distract predators.
