15th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
A chipmunk prepares for winter.
We were visiting Spooner Lake in Nevada when I spotted this chipmunk. He was likely used to visitors because she did not move even as I took photos with my phone then changed to my DSLR. He appeared to be stocking up for winter. He was a willing model for the photo shoot.
