A Cold Afternoon on a Spring Day in Yellowstone NP

Driving through Yellowstone NP at the Upper Terrace of Mammoth Hot Springs. It was a very cold afternoon in May and we observed this almost other-worldly view. The hot geothermal pools nearby not only kill the trees, but create a steamy mist and alter the appearance of the sky and clouds when the heat reacts to the cold surface air.
