22nd Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
A Crescent Pearl Butterfly and Green Sweat Bees feast on Butterfly Milkweed nectar.
In my native garden, a sparkling flurry of activity on Butterfly Milkweed presented metallic highlights of gold, copper and green. I watched this scene morph into a harmonious rhythm, becoming a shared dance between species. This shot captures the electric energy of my experience.
