A Curious Juvenile Sea Lion Checking Out Their Reflection In My Camera's Dome Port

As a scuba diver and lover of all things ocean, I'd been wanting to dive in Mexico's Coronado Islands sea lion rookery for some time. I'd hoped to go in October, when the California sea lions are young, curious and playful with scuba divers. However this was not to be, instead I went on a perfectly calm day in November, when the sea lions were more in their wild teen phase of life. It turned out to be amazing. As respectful divers, we chose a spot and the sea lions came to us, curious as ever, but also showing off, zipping around, racing and playing with each other. The sea lion in this photo was particular curious and friendly, he stayed with me for some time, checking out their reflection, tasting my underwater camera housing, and my snorkel, all the while showing me their cool swimming tricks.
