18th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
A female Fallow deer at dawn
This was taken in a piece of ancient woodland pasture close to where I live in Suffolk, UK. It was taken from a hide that I use for photographing wildlife on this nature reserve. There are about 100-120 of this species of deer and they are quite wary of humans, which is why i use a hide. I was lucky to capture the mist which had settled on this autumn morning.
