A Female's Work

The Black and Yellow Argiope (garden spider) is one of the largest orb weaving spiders found in New York State. The broad white zigzag she weaves is to deter birds from flying through her web. She rebuilds her web each morning to refresh the glue which ensnares her flying insects feast.
