William Gardner, a well known farmer and friend in Floyd County, Virginia, has a very interesting and expressive face. I took this picture in the evening of September 15 when the autumn cold was beginning to settle on our Blue Ridge mountains. I think this picture shows the commitment and tenacity of those in rural America who work the long hours at minimal compensation to provide food for us all. Bill is still working long after he should have retired. We should all think on that.
