A great ant foraging

This picture was taken in Vale Natural Reserve, Linhares, ES, Brazil. My coleague Cássio Zocca Zandomenico and me were studying the foraging activity of Dinoponera lucida Emery. This ant species feeds predominantly other macroinvetebrates present in the plant litter. In this photo we recorded a rare moment when the ant, which can measure up to 4 cm, was carrying a fruit of the tree Swartzia myrtifolia var. elegans for the colony.
