A group of elegant white-naped cranes wintering in Kyushu, Japan

I traveled to Kyushu (Japan) to observe and photograph these magnificent cranes. Only of a few thousand white-cranes remain and their conservation requires extensive international efforts and cooperation. On the island of Kyushu several hundred white-naped cranes spend the winter each year in the company of a larger population of hooded cranes (a few also seeing in the photo).
