13th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Travel
A group of women was returning home after completing their fishing at Wular, the largest fresh water lake of Kashmir.

Wular lake seems to be the largest and the most beautiful fresh water lake of Asia. Thousands of fishermen earned their bread from this waterbody as this lake is an important fish habitat. However this lake is now faceing some environmental threats as the conversion of large parts of the lake's catchment areas into agriculture land. Tourism can change the face of this Ramsar site if we can promote awareness amongst local communities about the environmental threat as well as their gain to promote tourism.
