This moment was one of many captured during my recent 3-month experience in Japan. This monk stood completely still unless someone gave a donation, in which he would thank them with a bow. A sustainable travel project would involve considerable time spent in a location, and would help bring awareness to that environment. This photo represents sustainable travel in that it provides a viewer a glimpse into the daily life of a monk, and shows the monk's desire and determination to raise funds for a cause.
