This picture is taken looking south from Red Rock Canyon over the Nevadan desert west of Las Vegas. The original intent was to capture the early sunrise glow on the brilliant red rock escarpment when we glanced left and noticed a single hot air balloon drifting lazily over the hazy morning mist.
