This picture contains a butterfly who is hurt. This is an orange-spotted purple butterfly. I was enjoying the beginning of the fall season when I found this butterfly. This butterfly is normally seen in the eastern United States, from the Gulf Coast to southern Canada. It is not an abundant species and is most often seen in woodlands and along streams and marshland.
