The Chase Every summer, Kamchatka brown bear come out of their hibernation and gather in the Kurile lake to feed on the spawning Pacific salmon. During early summer, supply of Salmon is scarce and therefore, there is stiff competition amongst the hungry bears for food. This sub-adult bear did manage to catch a salmon only to be chased away by a big adult male bear. The young bear was desperate as reflected in his eyes and did give a good show and was able to outrun the bigger bear.
