A lightning strike over Horseshoe Bend

'Lightning Curve' A summer monsoon storm brings clouds and lightning over over the Colorado River at Horseshoe Bend Arizona. Balanced on a rock that hangs over the 1000' deep canyon formed by the Colorado River, I was waiting for this storm to move closer toward the overlook. The wind was whipping up from the canyon below which required me to secure my tripod using a bag filled with rocks. Soon the electricity in the air caused my hair to stand on end. I looked around and noticed most of the other photographers and tourists were running back up the trail. Setting my camera to take 2 second exposures every 3 seconds I was fortunate to capture this marvelous strike that seems to match the curve of the river below.
