15th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest People
A little girl welcomes the ocean.
While testing out a new lens at the beach, I noticed a small girl, decked out with floaties, racing in and out of the water. She was so thrilled - and a little scared - as she splashed in and out of the waves. Finally, she ran to the water’s edge and threw out her arms: inviting the ocean into her fragile embrace.
