20th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
A lizard captured by quetzal for his baby.
The quetzal is a near-threatened species and is said to be a legendary bird. From 2016 to 2022, I traveled to Costa Rica in Central America every April to May and November to record the ecology of the quetzal. The quetzal is a mythical bird that is said to bring good luck to those who see it.
