A local Peruvian woman running back at Rainbow Mountain for her next load
Hiking up to the Rainbow Mountain in Peru is quite challenging as it starts at around 4600m and ends above 5000m. Not surprisingly, many people opt for a horseback ride instead which in turn provides a source of livelihood for the locals. This is one such local who is running back after dropping off someone in order to potentially bring another person. As I struggled to walk at that altitude, I was amazed to see how the locals ran effortlessly from one end of the trail to the other.
