A lone tree at the American Cemetary in Normandy, France.

After spending the day seeing Point Du Hock and Omaha Beach I visited the American Cemetary in Normandy. As I walked the perimeter of the cemetery the expanse of the site took my breath away. A cemetery is supposed to be the final resting place of many lifetimes and generations. This was different. Every life represented on this hallowed ground was lost in the span of merely four years. I do not think any photo can do justice to what you feel while in this place.
