A Long-Tailed Weasel Dressed For Winter

When the cold comes, long-tailed weasels transform from brown to white to blend in with the landscape they call home. But this particular winter in the mountains, we are snowless. Leaving these bright white friends to really stand out against the landscape- the exact opposite of what their color transformation is for. On the day I made this image, my husband spotted this weasel from a great distance, demonstrating how this tiny creature is now so visible to predation.
