A look of mud

Two weeks before Ashura, the people of Bijar go to the surrounding plains and collect the clay needed for the ceremony, after sifting, they store it in the hosseiniyeh to prepare special mud for the ceremony on the night of Ashura. This ceremony, which is known as the mud gathering, starts from the morning of Ashura day, and people and groups of mourners gather in the main streets of the city and cover themselves with mud from head to toe.
