A male Common Green Darner in flight.
One of the most common and one of the largest dragonflies in North America, this was one of several Common Green Darners hawking insects near the reeds on the edge of a pond. These insects are slow, methodical hunters, making in flight shots more possible than is the case with other smaller, less common odonates.
