A Massive Tabular Iceberg at the tip of South Georgia
Stormy skies and rough seas as we departed from the southern end of South Georgia island. As we neared the end of the land, a massive tabular iceberg that was floating off the coast came into view. The size of many city blocks and a height of over 150 feet above the water line, this huge chunk of blue ice floated all the way here after breaking off from the ice shelf of Antarctica to this tiny island.
