A medley of hibiscus flowers.

One summer afternoon, I noticed that several hibiscus shrubs in my yard were in full bloom. The brilliant hues of the orange, red, and pink flowers–combined with the warm, and somewhat humid California day–brought back fond memories of a relaxing trip I had taken to Hawaii some years ago. Inspired to capture the nostalgia of the tropics that these hibiscus were imparting, I gathered various cuttings of the flowers, leaves and some fronds from a palm plant (for subtle accents), and arranged them on a table for a still-life photograph.
