This is an aerial shot of a Mentawai traditional house (called Uma) taken early morning before sunrise penetrated the deep interior forest. I stayed in this house for about a week and early mornings were always exciting. Mostly mist-filled, as you can see on the top part of the frame. The Uma stands as a lonely fortress, like an empire, uninvaded, uninterrupted and all peaceful.
