The Mentawai tribe live in harmony with nature. Here you see a tribesman cutting a small wedge on a tree trunk which a child is playing on the tree. On asking I was told the do that so birds can get some fresh sap and also feed on the soft inside of the trunk. He says they help providing for the other living creatures of the forest where ever they can.
