18th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
A metallic green sweat bee collects pollen for her young.

This small sweat bee (Augochlorella pomoniella) was collecting pollen from a Goldenbush flower (Isocoma menziesii), to bring back the nourisnment for it's young in a nearby ground nest.
