13th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
A misty morning while hiking the Appalachian Trail.
This photo was taken on an early morning near the summit of Mt. Success. I was on a 6 day trip in which I was hiking the Mahoosuc Range of the Appalachian Trail. It had rained over the night, and despite having to set up camp in the rain, I was rewarded with the beauty of the forest enveloped in mist.
