16th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
A Moment in the Sun
While on a recent trip to Death Valley National Park. I was fortunate to find a kit fox den and spent the next seven days photographing it. The foxes are primarily nocturnal so I would only get a little bit of time to photograph them each day. This also meant that often I would have a limited window of good light as well. On this day I got lucky and one of the kits while playing with an adult stopped for a second in this beautiful morning light.
