A moment of connection in the winter silence
During a visit to Grand Teton National Park, I encountered a band of coyotes swimming across the snake river. One of them broke off after reaching the bank, and sprinted towards the west, while the others hung around by the river. After taking a few pictures (including two playing together), I decided to drive in the direction the lone coyote had gone. I parked at one of the overlook as there was access to a nature trail. I had walked just about 5 minutes when I came face to face with this coyote, in a field of snow covered sagebrush, and after a fleeting moment of eye contact, it was gone. I do not know if this was the same coyote I had seen by the river.
