14th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
A monarch caterpillar in Texas back yard.
I moved into a new house and immediately planted two milkweed plants in hopes to attract monarch butterflies. A week later I witnessed a monarch laying her eggs. I now have 7 caterpillars and counting!
