Behind this image is one of the most surreal moments I have experienced in hiking. This hike is located in New York's Adirondacks, where I first found my passion for the outdoors. I woke up at 1:30 AM to drive to the trailhead for this mountain to see the peak foliage. The firetower on the summit was submerged in fog but I stayed as long as I could. With snow falling, I knew it could've been an incredible moment. Once the clouds started to break, this is what I witnessed.
