In August of 2020, we lost a friend and a classmate. His name: David Guirguis. David was 24 years old and a senior in our dental class. David was kind - a friend to everyone, as he never wanted anyone to feel alone. He was ambitious - a student who was always pushing the limits and taking risks. He was charitable - a clinician who spent his weekends providing care to the underserved community. He was happy - a boy who wasn't afraid to live, and he wore his smile and his dimples proudly. But most of all, David was love - a person who poured his heart into his family, friends and patients, and he did so fully and endlessly. This past May, we graduated from dental school. David should have been there with us. David's mother wore his regalia and collected his diploma. She is the image of strength. She is the image of love. And David Guirguis, DMD would be proud of her.
