A Nation in Limbo
On May 20, 2022, Izanullah and Mohammadullah were observed tending to their wheat fields in Shah Mazar, Afghanistan. Both men have a history of farming, continuing their agricultural work despite the ongoing conflict in the region. During times of war, they would often participate in combat for a few hours before returning to their farming duties. Wheat is a staple crop in Afghanistan, essential for food security in rural areas. This scene highlights the resilience of Afghan farmers who strive to maintain their livelihoods amid challenging circumstances.
